Scientists on Public Engagement: from Communication to Deliberation
ScoPE was a three-year research project (1 September 2006 to 31 August 2009) located within BIOS (The Centre for the Study of Bioscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology and Society) at the London School of Economics. The research was generously funded by the Wellcome Trust, as part of the Society Awards: Research stream of its Engaging Science public engagement grants programme (award number 080201). The objective of the project was to better understand the burgeoning public engagement with science agenda from the perspectives of scientists themselves and, in so doing, to evaluate the agenda.
